was the nearby village of Exning that was one of the
major settlements in this area during Anglo-Saxon and
Medieval times.
After Britain was hit by the plague during the 14th,
15th & 16th Centuries, the population of Exning
decided to leave their homes to contain the disease

Venue
to some of the Greatest Races in the history of Horse
Racing.
Here, we have prepared a complete journey around the famous
Newmarket Rowley Mile Racecourse which is situated on
the outskirts of the Town.
There was no racing on the day we visited so we were able
to take our pictures from places we would not normally
have been allowed. Permission was granted by one Chris
Kennedy of the Race Course Office, our thanks to him.
We'll be covering a proper race meet at the July Course
in the not to distant future. Anyway, we hope you enjoy
your visit to one of the most influential Racecourses
on the planet...
